New Puppy!

I'm hoping to get a new puppy soon (don't worry, Mom...I even discussed this idea with my therapist and she thinks it's a great idea). I've been "approved to adopt" by a rescue organization here in Denver and have been waiting for a puppy of a new litter to be weaned and 'fixed'. I have requested a male puppy as I already have a female cat and they are less expensive to adopt anyway. So, I have been corresponding to one of the people from the dog rescue group and the puppies are almost ready. They even have pics of the "boys" up on their site. There are only two male puppies available. Here are the pics and bios:

Beau (male) # 08027
This handsome young fellow's name is Beau. He's a 4 month old Chihuahua mix and weighs 6 lbs. He's very intelligent energetic, playful, and loving. Beau is potty trained and knows how to use a doggie door and puppy pads. Although Beau loves to play, he's a very mild mannered, gentle natured little boy and is easily intimidated by rough play. He loves to snuggle and is very affectionate. Beau is a fantastic listener and very fast learner. He'll make a great addition to any family. Beau is content by himself or with other dogs and children as long as they play nice and aren't too rough!

Marley (male) # 08028
Marley is a 4 month old Chihuahua mix and weighs 10 lbs. Marley is house trained and knows how to use a doggie door. He's very playful and full of energy. Marley has definitely claimed the role of Alpha in our home, not because he's mean or aggressive, but because he's so much larger than his brother and sisters. He was the largest puppy out of his litter of seven, and he still holds the title! Marley loves to play and explore and is very friendly and loving. He loves to play with other dogs and children and would be a great addition to any family.

Both are beautiful, but I'm leaning towards Beau. We'll see. I'm hoping I'll get to take him home in the next few weeks. Plus, I think it will be wonderful to have another loving animal at home...I admit, I get lonely sometimes, and as much as I love my cat, Aria, she's not much of a cuddler!

Feeling up and down...

I work in a high rise---nothing crazy like those in lovely Manhattan, but a good 31 floors. And lucky, lucky me: I work on one of the highest floors. So, day after day I get on the elevator with strangers and wait a gazillion stops it feels like, to get to my damn floor. I have gotten to the point that in the mornings I will wait until it's only me on the elevator or just me and one other person. And let me tell you, that takes some patience, but I am so sick (literally sometimes...I get motion sickness from the frequent stops) of stopping on floor after floor to finally get to mine.

I realize this is a pointless rant, but it had to be put out there. 'nuff said.

"...to sleep, perchance to dream...."

Well, I dreamed about living in Utah *again*....this is crazy! I have had numerous dreams of being back in Utah, living in Utah, being back in college there....and especially dreaming about a particular guy I dated back then. It was 9 years ago! But I keep having dreams about him. We'll just call him "Wess" which, if anyone who knows me closely and from back in my Provo days, would definitely know to whom I am referring.

Anyway, he was (is?) very similar looking to my beloved, Matthew McConaughey, and built similarly too, although not quite as tall. I have had so many dreams about "Wess" this year that I had to look him up and get his contact info. Unfortunately, he was not "Google" material and I had to (embarrassingly) freaking pay$15 to get his phone number. I know, I know, I became a stalker, briefly, but hey, when I called him he told me that he had been talking about me to his roommate. And I might add he was telling his roommate how hot I was. But I digress...

So, months ago I contacted him and we happily text and talk once in awhile....all with completely bad intentions, of course. He is in Provo, UT anyway and I am in lovely Denver....so, it's all innocent fun. But, gosh darn it, I dreamed about him again. Nothing amazing, but definitely a fun dream. What does it all mean, though! Ack!

Oh well.

Let us see you!

Okay, so I wanted to blog about something that has really been bugging me.

Has anyone else noticed that many, many "proud parents" don't post profile pics of themselves on Facebook but rather, of their children? People, you're not fooling anyone. I guarantee that most of the time the reason this is done is because either A: these individuals have perhaps looked better in earlier years and don't want their current photos up or B: these individuals are trying to evade the law or something and therefore don't want a photo up of them where they could be seen by the wrong person. Or whatever.

See here, folks, we're all getting older and perhaps, a bit rounder, but the rest of us are biting the bullet and putting *our* photos up, and not of our neice or nephew or in your case, kiddo, to distract others with their cuteness. Nope, we lay it on the line and so I invite you all to do the same. C'mon we promise we will only laugh at *first* and then get over it.

:-)

Visiting for the weekend...

So, I'm in lovely Cheyenne, WY for the weekend (or as my friends like to call it: Chey-oming). Anyway, I decided to go on a much-needed bike ride on the "greenway"---which is a paved path for bikers, runners, etc. that snakes through town. My brother, Patrick, got down my Dad's old bike and fixed it so the seat was adjusted to the right height---and off I went! First off, I am so happy to have an i-pod! It made the ride that much more enjoyable and I acutally had fun. Until I realized how far it was to bike BACK home. All in all---it went well, and I had a good workout.

Internet withdrawals....

So, at my office our internet connection was down for almost *five* hours....it was brutal. I didn't realize how much easier my life has been made by use of the world wide web! A few hours in I blurted out, "What did you guys do before internet!?" to which my older co-worker replied, "We didn't get sh@$ done!" Hilarious. Anyway, it just made me realize how dependent we are on the internet---to look up phone numbers, stay in touch with others, to store files (I love gmail documents!), etc. I guess it's a good idea to have a back-up on important info otherwise you're stuck like I was this morning.
